Wyoming's Wild Horses - an art project to support America's Mustangs

Hi friends, I’ve mentioned that I’ve been working on a special new project… and today’s the day for the big reveal!

A couple months ago I stumbled across Chad and Lynn Hanson’s incredible photos of mustangs in Wyoming (@wildhorses.wildplace). I was captivated by the beauty of these wild horses and Wyoming’s breathtaking landscapes.

I discovered that wild horses in the U.S. like in Canada, are facing many challenges and need support. Today in the U.S. there are about 80,000 federally protected mustangs living on Western public lands, but those numbers are dwindling quickly. Luckily, I believe we can still help!

Wild horse herds are overseen by the Bureau of Land Management, an agency that is responsible for the horses’ well being and herd populations. Unfortunately, there are a lot of concerns about the practices the BLM employs to manage the horse populations.

For example, one of the main concerns is their use of helicopters to chase herds and round them up into holding pens. This process often leads to injuries, is traumatizing and inhumane. For all those animal lovers like me, you know how heartbreaking it is to see amazing creatures being treated poorly.

I’ve decided to help in the best way I can, with my art. I'm excited to share with you that I’m currently working on a series of 12 paintings inspired by Wyoming’s wild horses. The “Wyoming's Wild Horses” collection will be released in late October. A percentage of each sold painting will be donated to the Wyoming Mustang Institute, a nonprofit organization run by Chad and Lynn Hanson. This project is a way to support animals and raise awareness about their importance.

Here is the Wyoming Mustang Institute's mission statement:

"The Wyoming Mustang Institute works to ensure healthy and stable wild horse populations on public land, through research, media outreach, and informational events".

Painting these beautiful horses has been incredibly meaningful, and I am so happy to contribute my creative energy to this wonderful cause.

I’ll be sharing more detailed information and images of this project in my Art Studio Newsletter. As a token of appreciation, subscribers to my newsletter will receive their very own phone wallpaper of my painting of Looking Glass. You can sign up through this link: http://eepurl.com/byk-qD

I cannot wait to share these new works with you and give you the chance to learn more about these special horses.

I hope you will follow me along on this Wild Horse journey. B

P.S. I encourage you to watch this short video, it describes the situation clearly and is very informative.
