Bio

Brooke was born in Montreal, and has spent time living in both Canada and the United States. Although she has lived in many different places the artist considers St-Sauveur, a town in the Laurentian Mountains, her home. Her love for drawing and painting began at an early age, inspired by time spent in the Laurentians.

Brooke graduated from McMaster University earning an Honours degree in Visual Arts. During her university years, the artist spent her summers traveling in Arizona and British Columbia. These experiences travelling sparked her interest and desire to paint landscapes that hold personal meaning. Many of her paintings have been a result of the inspiration found in the light and colours of such landscapes.

When traveling, her medium of choice is watercolour because they are lightweight, quick- drying, and immediate. These small watercolour paintings often serve as preliminary studies for larger oil paintings.

Brooke is also extremely passionate about horses. She began riding as a young girl, and spent many years competing in horse shows both in Canada and the U.S. Her love of horses naturally found its way into her art. As an equine artist, she is sought out for her ability to capture a horse’s personality and spirit on canvas.

The artist has exhibited in Ontario and in England, and has a number of works in private collections. Brooke lives in Burlington, Ontario. In 2017, she was selected by the City of Burlington to create a sculpture installation for her community, which is located in Fothergill Woods Park. Brooke continues to create and exhibit work based on travel, horses, relationships, and personal experiences.
